How to Care & Clean Your Furnishings

By following these simple care tips, you can keep your solid wood furniture and décor looking new for years. Wood furniture and decor can last for decades with proper care.

Use a tablecloth or any other thick quality cloth on your dining table or any other table that will be used frequently and heavily.
Cleaning your furniture pieces on a regular basis can assist you to keep them for a long time. Make sure to clean your furniture gently with a soft, softly textured cloth; using a rough rag and pressing it hard against the wood may cause slight scratches.
Avoid placing goods such as burning candles or irons on any furniture since the heat generated by them may shorten the life of your furniture in the long run. Instead, use candle holders to prevent melting wax from touching the furniture.

Light and Heat

Always keep your solid wood furniture and décor out of direct sunlight and temperature changes. To prevent fading, keep your furniture away from windows and other areas where it may be exposed to direct sunlight.

Humidity

Solid wood furniture and/or décor should not be subjected to excessive humidity fluctuations. Moisture may cause the wood to expand and shrink, which might result in cracking.

Liquids

To avoid staining and warping of your solid wood furniture, always use mats and coasters when placing food or beverages on it. Avoid placing hot items directly on the furniture. If liquid spills on it, clean it quickly with a sponge or cloth.

Chemicals

Avoid contact with chemicals on the furniture as it may ruin the natural finish and reduce longevity. Also, avoid applying polyurethane paint to the furniture.

Scratches and Burn Remedy

Scratches, burns, residue, and other surface damage can be removed with fine-grit sandpaper. Reapply mineral oil after sanding.

How to Care for Leather:

  • Dust frequently, and use a vacuum cleaner crevice tool to clean seams.
  • Clean once a week with a moist sponge or a gentle, lint-free cloth. Don't rub; instead, softly wipe.
  • Avoid using or putting sharp items on leather goods. Leather is quite durable, however it is not accident or damage resistant.
  • Keep leather furniture out of direct sunlight and at least two feet away from heat sources to prevent fading and cracking.
  • Avoid placing newspapers or magazines on leather furniture. The ink from these products may be transferred to the leather.
  • Avoid using abrasives, harsh chemicals, saddle soap, leather cleaners containing oils, soaps, or detergents, or typical home cleaners on leather furniture. Use only the specified leather cleaners.
  • Follow the instructions for any light leather cleaning you may use. Leather conditioners also protect your leather from stains and help it last longer. Before applying any cleaning/conditioning product on leather, test it in a hidden location.
  • Improper cleaning can void your leather furniture warranty.
